Twas the night before Christmas
And the night had shimmered across all the houses into a Golden wonderland.
“When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter ... When what to my wondering eyes should appear, Gold!”
A small excerpt from Twas the night before Christmas.
Quarantine has turned itself around for most, as the unshakeable two years of the pandemic has made us appreciate the feeling of gift giving. With the festive season upon us, reuniting with family and friends over the dinner table seems like a dream that has finally come true.
It is a scientific fact that humans need positive interactions during the frosty seasons. The Journal of Hormone and Behaviour stated that a hormone called oxytocin is produced when around trusted groups and individuals. The study further stated that oxytocin induces us to give, even if we do not see or experience the positive effects of our gifts.
That is even more of an incentive to offer gifts of value to those who you love. Religion may not be a custom that everyone subscribes to but the presents offered to Christ had great value. Jesus received Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Gold was valuable, beautiful, and long-lasting. It was a treasure befitting royalty, albeit royalty in the home of a young, poor family.
